The KAYA principles can be described as the “cultural algorithms” that underlie behaviors and decision-making at KAYA.

Why?

How we do one thing is how we do everything.

The intent is to help all team members to be clear on our shared identity and areas of friction that it may produce. This document should also make it easier to navigate any dilemmas and conflicts we encounter as part of our job.

How?

Every day is an opportunity to turn our principles into actions.

Each KAYA team member has a responsibility to live these values and principles to the best of their ability (perfection is of course not expected – just excellence :)) and help others live these values as well.

These values require discipline and may feel uncomfortable to uphold, however the reward is a “tidy house” inwardly and outwardly, which is critical for KAYA to succeed in the medium to long term.

It’s worth repeating that we won’t live up to these ideals all the time, but when we fail, we should get up and try again, and fail better next time.

<aside> 📖 This is a blueprint for how we would like to carry ourselves in our daily work life; it’s as ambitious as our founder’s business plans! Let’s help each other come close to these goals, as consistently as possible. As Aristotle, the original self-improvement guru, once (3rd century BC) said: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
